Middle School Math Teacher

For the 2023/24 school year, I taught the advanced math class at the Jewish Middle School of Nashville. The proof-based class had five students in grades 6-8. The fall was focused on algebra, working up to solving systems of multivariate linear equations, and a brief exposure to factoring polynomials. In the spring, we primarily studied Euclidean geometry.

I used the Art of Problem Solving Introduction to Algebra and Introduction to Geometry books to plan the class and write problem sets. Students were expected to provide rigorous proofs for all problems, and we worked a lot on good mathematical writing.
